The Life Sciences Diversity Fellowship is a one-year program designed to support postdoctoral researchers and early-career scientists from underrepresented minority (UR) and other disadvantaged backgrounds with the skills necessary to successfully pursue research careers and leadership and decision-making roles in academia, industry, and government research.

The program is designed around core program elements to optimize career advancement by enhancing fellows’ confidence, leadership skills, networking opportunities, and visibility within the biological and biomedical research communities.

Key educational elements

  • Key educational elements include:
    • Fellows participate in three SAB meetings where they review, discuss, and curate the scientific program for an internationally recognized conference series in a unique and stimulating forum with thought leaders from academia, industry, and government from around the world. These lively and intensive peer review sessions focus on the frontiers of biology and medicine, and the collegial atmosphere builds consensus on pioneering advances in the field.
    • A leadership training module is held the day before the SAB meeting to prepare Fellows for this forum and develop career skills specific to this important stage of career development.
    • A tailored mentoring module for life science researchers at a critical stage in their career development.
    • One-on-one mentoring with accomplished SAB members is provided, tailored to the Fellow’s career path and professional growth goals.
    • As part of the Keystone Symposia DLSP community, a strong, supportive, and diverse life science network comprised of an exceptional group of UR scientists and advisors, you will receive ongoing peer mentoring.
    • Travel support to attend future Keystone Symposium conferences.
