I’m Anushri Sahu, a product designer, and Kirti Sahu, a product manager on the Word team. I’m excited to share some improvements we’ve made to Word for the web that will help you edit tables faster and more efficiently. Easily edit tables in Word for the web We’ve heard from many of you that you want to make editing tables in Word for the web easier and more intuitive. And we agree! Our latest update brings a more streamlined experience and a fresh new look to table editing. Now you can easily insert rows or columns wherever you want with just one click, without having to right-click or access the ribbon to make any changes. You can also quickly and easily move existing rows or columns to a new location in your table (no need to cut and paste). How it works Insert rows or columns with one click Place the cursor over the location in the table where you want to add a new row or column. + An icon appears next to the row or column where the insert will be performed. Please select + Click the icons to add new rows or columns directly to the table. Insert a new row or column in a table in Word for the web Move rows and columns easily Hover your mouse over the column or row you want to move in the table. A group of four dots will appear at the top of the column or the beginning of the row, indicating that the item can be moved. Move rows or columns by selecting four points and dragging them. As you drag, a blue line appears to guide the items to their new positions. Once you have your columns or rows in the correct positions, drop the items to put them in place. Move columns within a table in Word for the web effectiveness This feature is currently rolling out to users in the Targeted Release of Word for the web and is expected to be generally available to all users by September 2024. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better.
