Title: Research Associate (m/f/d) Research area:The research focus is on theoretical investigations and computational modelling of novel materials, their physical properties and components from atomic to molecular scale. The role involves the use of machine learning algorithms and high-throughput quantum and classical simulations to explore the photonic, plasmonic, electronic and mechanical properties of materials and nanostructures. Location: University of Kassel, Germany Eligibility/Qualification: Completed academic university degree (Master) in Computational materials science, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering or similar fields Solid knowledge of quantum mechanical and classical material theory, e.g. density functional theory, molecular dynamics and calculation of electronic structures Excellent knowledge of the English language Practical and theoretical knowledge in the simulation of photonic and electronic components, optimization and machine learning methods are an advantage Familiarity with Python, LaTeX, Linux and high-performance computing (HPC) environments is desirable Initial teaching experience, preferably in the fields of computer physics, mathematics and electrical engineering Knowledge of the German language is an advantage Job description: Participation in research and teaching activities in the field of computational materials and photonics Prepare and conduct lectures, seminars and exercises Support in applying for and carrying out research projects Mentor for Bachelor and Master students Carrying out quantum and classical modelling as well as method development for novel monolayers and their application in technological components How to apply:Please submit your application, quoting the reference number, using the online form on the job portal of the University of Kassel (stellen.uni-kassel.de).
