Catholic Relief Services’ International Development Fellows program prepares committed global citizens for careers in international relief and development work.

CRS works with a broad network of partners to create sustainable change and provide life-saving help in emergencies.

Areas of focus

  • Medical, Dental and Vision: Fellows have access to health care providers around the world through CRS’s health plan with Aetna International. Health plans include medical and vision coverage with no deductibles for in-network providers and low co-insurance and deductibles. Comprehensive dental benefits are also available to fellows.
  • Safe furnished housing: CRS provides each fellow with basic furnished housing that includes electricity, running water, internet, and security services (if required). Fellows’ housing is typically an apartment or house near the CRS office.
  • Paid time off (vacation, sick leave, and personal): CRS provides fellows with 20 days of paid vacation each year, along with 12 days of sick leave. We also provide four days of personal time to respond to emergency or non-emergency situations that arise during the normally scheduled work day.
  • Travel and medical evacuation: CRS covers travel for fellows to their assigned countries. In the event of a life-threatening illness or accident, fellows and their accompanying dependents have access to CRS’ medical support providers who can facilitate emergency care anywhere in the world.
  • Retirement Benefits: CRS offers a 50% match on the first 6% of contributions and after 6 months of employment, it contributes 7% of salary regardless of employee contributions.
  • Continuing Education: Upon hiring, Fellows will have access to CRS’ powerful online learning platform. CRS also reimburses up to $5,200 per year to employees pursuing degrees and professional certifications after one year of employment.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a related field
  • At least 2 years of work experience, including at least 6 months of work or volunteer experience in a developing country.
  • Fluent English with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Specialized skills in a second language (French, Arabic, Portuguese preferred)
  • May work in locations with communicable diseases and limited access to medical facilities.
