Could Debate Prep Become an Artform with the Nvidia Omniverse?

I am writing this before the September 10 presidential debate to avoid any influence on my views. Both candidates are said to be preparing to use surrogates to stand in for their opponents. This strategy doesn’t always work well and has proven ineffective in previous debates.

The problem with using human surrogates is that unless the person immerses themselves in the character and prepares for the role like a professional actor, their performance and thus their effectiveness will be highly unreliable.

Part of the problem is that stand-ins won’t be as comfortable with personal attacks on those they work for, further reducing their effectiveness as training dummies. However, a simulation tool like Nvidia Omniverse, backed by a conversational AI trained on an adversary’s past behavior and public social media posts, can create a more accurate simulation of that adversary.

Additionally, this power applies not only to presidential candidates but to people running for lower office, congressional debates, legal debates in court cases, and negotiations between business executives seeking a share of a budget that can only support one person.

Let’s discuss the future of debate preparation. Then, we’ll close with my product of the week, Phantom Technology’s smart glasses that will be available early next year and are designed to reduce distractions from your smartphone or PC.

Why winning debates is important

Whether talking about politics, legal battles or business, the ability to win arguments is important.

One of the reasons OJ Simpson won his trial was because opposing counsel brought out a pair of gloves that didn’t fit, and Simpson’s legal team coined the brilliant phrase “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit,” winning their case. A mock trial done correctly and with a proper stand-in for OJ could have predicted this and informed the prosecutors that the path they were taking would be disastrous for their case.

When I was in pre-law, I participated in moot court. While it was fun, it was different enough from an actual court (which I later participated in a lot as both a judge and a litigator) to make it less useful than it might otherwise be.

Before Apple created the iPhone, working groups at Palm and Microsoft argued that an iPhone-like phone that focused on fun things for consumers was the future direction for their companies. That controversy was lost on Microsoft, and the Zune was one of Microsoft’s least successful offerings as a result. This laid the groundwork for the eventual replacement of Microsoft’s then-CEO, Steve Ballmer (he joined the team in June).

Eventually, we all get into arguments with our family, neighbors, friends, colleagues, employers and even our children. Often, we fall into anger and threats, resulting in less-than-ideal outcomes, so learning to debate can help us better control our future. However, debate competitions help, but rarely participate

Simulated debate

Although I’m focusing on Nvidia Omniverse because it’s the only tool I know, there are other simulation tools. As AI advances, an increasing number of generative AI tools will be able to learn from the public activity of the people you want to understand. You can create more accurate models of juries to increase the win ratio or identify the potential for damages, allowing for a settlement offer that ends with a better outcome than a trial you can’t win.

When it comes to elections, I still remember the one line I believe Ronald Reagan won the presidency from when Reagan faced questions about his age during a debate with Walter Mondale. it is Still funny Today – even Mandale couldn’t smile. This comment resonated beyond the debate, sparking conversations at our dinner table for weeks; Decades later, it’s still a topic we revisit.

However, there is a wealth of information about how political candidates, especially at the top level, perform at events, debates, conferences and other public appearances. AI can distill this data into several variations of how they can answer each possible question. You can even create AI simulations of debate moderators, allowing for extensive dress rehearsal and increasing the chances of a successful debate performance.

I think the first politician or attorney who learns to use this tool well will be able to master their respective fields. But what if both sides use this method?

wrap up

Using a simulation tool like Omniverse will be a game-changer if one side or the other uses it exclusively, but things get interesting if both sides use it. In fact, you focus on the issues most important to the public instead of letting highly prepared candidates drift to irrelevant issues. As a result, debates become more entertaining, informative and engaging.

This preparation will also inform debaters if they have an unwinnable argument. Say, for example, you were sure that most people agreed with you, but the simulated scoring system indicated that your position was widely unpopular. You either change your position, lie, or drop out of the race.

Real-time fact-checking will eventually be available to anyone with a smartphone or PC. I can’t wait to use that tool in my daily life. There is a lot of fake information out there. I have been caught scamming three or four times.

Whether we’re talking about politics, litigation, work, or even our personal lives, a platform where we can practice and refine our arguments without resorting to name-calling or other weak argument tactics can do the world a favor. The question is when, if not, it is coming.

Journey Lenses are smart glasses

One of the life-changing things is AI human augmented products. These are products supported by AI that can make our lives better. last week Apple eventWe’ve seen several products focused on sleep apnea and hearing loss and giving you a better Siri experience (it’s about time).

Still, one area no one has addressed is how to improve focus. Although people who have extreme problems with this, I think we all have problems with focus, we are surrounded by technology.

Recently, I was forced to sit in a spa without my phone, and I was able to think of a lot of things that needed to be thought through. Our distractions include everything from family problems, especially with kids who should be learning how to properly engage face-to-face, to traffic accidents because someone can’t resist looking at their phone rather than where they are. is going

Smart glasses and related applications — called smart glasses — are coming from Phantom Technology Journey Lens — Designed to provide a heads-up display, microphone, 2K camera and speakers. These features enable you to designate critical information so you don’t feel the need to pick up your phone and get distracted by non-critical things like social media, which can be a huge time sink.

At a reasonable $200 (estimated price) for custom lenses, these are among the least expensive smart glasses on the market. They have much more functionality than the more limited Meta Specs, which lack a display.

The app they come up with will train you to be more focused and the distractions you agree to avoid are unnecessary. The camera captures what you see, but the app translates the image into a description sent to the cloud if you want to ask questions about what you saw while capturing the image on your phone.

Consider being able to ask the person you’re seeing or provide more detailed information about an accident or crime you’ve observed while protecting the privacy of the person you’re seeing. I expect that regardless of this protection there may still be issues with using these glasses in secure sites or public restrooms, the proposed geo-fencing will require a near-term enhancement.

Personal technology makes it harder for us to focus, be productive, and get things done. But because we often need to be able to report what we see, such as with This is the case As I remember very well, these glasses could make my life more productive, keep me safer, and help me keep others safer by more accurately reporting danger or crime. As a result, the Journey Lens Smart Glasses are my product of the week.
