Research Associate: Chromatin Transitions: We are looking for two ambitious and talented postdoctoral researchers to join our team and develop new computational approaches to study chromatin phase transitions at submolecular resolution within the ERC-funded ChromatinDroplets project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our goal of understanding the synergistic relationship between multicomponent biomolecular condensates, chromatin structure and gene regulation.

Research Assistant: Computer simulations of chromatin phase transitions x 2 (limited)

Designation: Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow)

Research area: Computational approaches to studying chromatin phase transitions

Location: Yusuf Hamied, Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Holder of a PhD/DPhil in Physics, chemistry or a closely related fieldwith a strong interest in biological systems
  • Extensive experience in modeling and simulation of chromatin organization and/or biomolecular phase transitions
  • Extensive proven experience with LAMMPS and/or OpenMM
  • Experience in the development or application of coarse-grained models, polymer models and/or in the development and application of molecular dynamics and/or Monte Carlo simulations to biomolecular systems or condensed matter systems

Job description: The successful candidates will join the research group of Prof. Rosana Collepardo (collepardolab.org) in the Departments of Chemistry and Genetics at the University of Cambridge. The Collepardo group develops theoretical methods and multiscale computational models to study physical and molecular mechanisms that regulate the organization of biomolecules, including chromatin, in cells. The job holders’ responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research in computer simulations and statistical mechanics of chromatin phase transitions
  • Collaboration in the preparation of reports and journal articles
  • Presentation of lectures at conferences and workshops
  • Representation of the group at meetings and seminars
  • Co-supervision of doctoral students
