Call for Projects: Independent Artists and Groups – Australia

Developing a new work may involve spending time in a studio or rehearsal room, or working with other artists. Applicants may request support for various stages of the development of a work, regardless of whether it has achieved public success. Research projects are possible if the applicant has a track record of achievement.

Independent artists can apply to have their existing work or exhibitions toured through this category.

Funded activities may include playwriting, dramaturgy, creative development, manuscript drafting and development, and studio production.

Literature requests for preparation of work for self-publishing will be accepted if you can make a compelling case for self-publishing, including a strong track record of published work and a viable marketing/distribution plan.

Qualification criteria

• Independent artists and groups
• A group of professional artists (which may or may not be incorporated) who do not receive government funding annually or for multiple years.

Disqualification criteria

• Organizations receiving funding: small-medium, large organizations.
• Organisations funded through the National Performing Arts Partnership Framework (NPAPF) are formerly known as Major Performing Arts (MPA) companies.
