We’re excited to announce that interpreters can now switch between two languages with the click of a button in Microsoft Teams. This will dramatically streamline the process, allowing for more efficient, real-time translations using just one interpreter. Bidirectional support for translated languages at the click of a button Real-time language interpretation, which can be added to unencrypted meetings in Microsoft Teams, allows professional interpreters to translate what is being said in a meeting into another language in real time, without interrupting the speaker’s communication. This hugely popular feature has enabled millions of users to access and understand important information in their native language. With bidirectional support for language interpretation in Teams, interpreters can now switch between two languages by selecting an indicator on their Teams screen. This new feature eliminates the need for a second interpreter or additional devices when switching between two languages. How it works When you join a Teams meeting where an interpreter is providing translation services, a notification will appear at the bottom of your screen notifying you of the language translation indicator. The language the interpreter is currently translating into (the language the attendee is hearing) is highlighted in an indicator at the bottom of the Teams window.Interpreters can switch between languages by clicking the buttons at the bottom of the Teams screen. The interpreter can switch between languages by selecting different buttons. They can continue to switch languages during the meeting as needed. effectiveness To use the new features, you must be a member of Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release and use the new Teams client for Windows or macOS. Other meeting participants do not need to be members of Teams Public Preview.
