Binding of Azure Functions to Azure Database for MySQL

This new feature ensures native support for input binding and output. binding Azure DB for MySQL – Function triggers for flexible servers. That is, you you can do it to read data not Azure DB database for MySQL as a functiondata storage again azure DB for MySQL database or You can even trigger functions when changes are detected in MySQL tables!

MySQL discovery and assessment in Azure Migrate

This feature allows you to: Azure Migration Discover MySQL servers in your environment, identify and evaluate their compatibility for moving to Azure Database for MySQL, and receive compute and storage SKU recommendations along with their costs. Learn more.

Support for MySQL LTS version 8.4

MySQL version 8.4 is the community’s latest LTS release that includes several new features and benefits that improve performance, security, and usability (Learn more). Coming soon with this version is the ability to create an Azure Database for MySQL flexible server to take advantage of all these new and exciting features!

On-demand backup and export

This feature provides the ability to export real-time physical backups of your servers to an Azure storage account (Azure Blob Storage) using Azure CLI commands. After exporting, these backups can be used for data recovery, migration, data redundancy and availability, or auditing. Learn more.

Long-term retention of backups

Previously, you could use Azure Database for MySQL to maintain: automatic backup and On-demand backup for Up to 35 days. With long-term retention, you can now retain backups for up to 10 years, further meeting audit and compliance requirements. Learn more.

Supports CMK support for accelerated logs

accelerated log, Available in the Business Critical Services tier and designed for mission-critical workloads, this feature increases the throughput of your applications by up to 2x (2X) at no additional cost. This feature will be supported soon on servers with Customer Managed Keys (CMKs) enabled.

Error log (server log)

This feature allows you to maintain MySQL error log files as follows: server log You can download it for up to 7 days. These error logs help you efficiently identify and resolve performance and reliability issues, and proactively detect and respond to unauthorized access attempts, failed login attempts, and other security-related events. virtual canary

The Virtual Canary feature is an interesting solution for Azure MySQL users who prioritize staying at the forefront of technology by ensuring their servers are always running the latest version. Servers that choose virtual canaries will receive maintenance updates earlier. You can also use this feature as an opportunity to perform an additional layer of update testing on development, test, or staging servers to avoid workload-specific issues, such as application-level compatibility issues. This feature therefore provides an efficient way to manage updates, coordinate test and production environments, and maintain operational stability with minimal disruption.

Virtually zero downtime maintenance for HA servers

This feature is designed to significantly reduce maintenance downtime for HA-enabled servers, with maintenance downtime expected to be 40 to 60 seconds in most cases. This feature is critical for businesses that require high availability and minimal disruption to database operations. Learn more.
