What do a bird box, a bee hotel and a nature expert all have in common? All of this is provided free of charge as part of the Local School Nature Grants program, supported by People’s Postcode Lottery players.

They provide schools and early childhood education providers in England, Scotland and Wales with the opportunity to take outdoor learning to the next level, helping children across the UK to enjoy its benefits.

profit

  • 500 pounds worth of goods
  • NEW – Additional Climate Curriculum Pack (£150 value)
  • On the settings site, the 4-hour CPD is broken down as follows:
    • 2 hours CPD on a topic of your choice from the LSNG training list for all adults in your environment. This is an opportunity for your staff as well as your lead applicant to benefit. This part of the offer may be more valuable than the product itself, the value lies in the skills and understanding this part of the offer provides. This is not a visit to look at potential physical changes to your site, but rather how you can use your existing space to teach the curriculum outdoors. Your trainer will contact you prior to the session to discuss the content.
    • On the same day, you will spend 2 hours on site working with LtL’s Climate Ready School Playground Digital Tool. This will produce a report on how you can improve your school playground, especially from a climate perspective. We value and encourage the input of your Sustainability Officer, Eco Committee and/or Student Council members. Click here to learn more.
    • We offer a one-year membership to Learning through Landscapes, giving you access to exclusive discounts, offers, and outdoor learning resources.
    • 3 webinars on various topics.
    • Display commemorative plaques of Zip Code Lottery winners in your reception area.

Qualification criteria

  • This grant is available to all schools and nursery facilities in England, Scotland and Wales. Nursery facilities must employ at least five staff and have a dedicated building, either a standalone building or part of a school. School nurseries and attached schools are classified as one facility.
