Windows Package Manager (WinGet) 1.8 now allows IT professionals to download Microsoft Store apps.

What is WinGet?

WinGet is a command-line tool that lets you install and manage applications on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices. WinGet supports multiple sources, automates the process of installing and updating applications, and lets you search for and discover new apps.

What is WinGet Download?

WinGet Download provides the ability to download Microsoft Store apps for offline distribution to other devices on your network. This feature replaces the Enterprise Offline feature in Microsoft Store for Business.

How do I download Microsoft Store apps using WinGet 1.8?

To download Microsoft Store apps using WinGet, you must have the latest version of WinGet installed on your device. You can check your WinGet version by running the following command: winget –version In a PowerShell or Command Prompt window. If you need to update WinGet, Download the latest installerExecute the command Wingget Upgrade WinggetOr update the app installer from the Microsoft Store.

To download Microsoft Store apps, you can use the winget download command. For example, you can run the following command: winget download calculator -s msstore Download the Calculator app from the Microsoft Store. This will create a folder in your Downloads directory where you can find the app package you downloaded. You can then copy the app package to another device and install it using the Add-AppxPackage PowerShell cmdlet. Run the following command: Add-AppxPackage -Path C:\Users\username\downloads\9WZDNCRFHVN5\Calculator.appx Install the calculator app on another device.
