IRC UK

IRC UK was founded in London in 1997 to support the organisation’s worldwide activities and

particularly to diversify the donor base and better represent the interests of the people we serve to European politicians. Since its inception, IRC UK has grown rapidly and is today recognised for its high quality project management, technical expertise in governance and rights and economic recovery, and innovative thinking on early recovery and gender

violence. IRC UK employs around 240 people.

IRC UK launched its first Resettlement Asylum and Integration (RAI) programme in the UK called RISE in 2020, working with local councils to provide integration support to resettled refugees in South East England. The IRC now supports refugees and asylum seekers across England. In September 2023, we will launch a new Refugee Employability Project (REP) in the South West of England, a programme to help refugees find work.

The purpose of the role

The Community Outreach Worker will work with clients and partners, assessing program eligibility and providing administrative support. This role focuses on recruiting participants, fostering community relationships, organizing events and managing logistics. The goal is to support refugees, migrants and vulnerable groups by ensuring they have access to the services and resources they need.

Key working relationships:

The position reports to the Project Manager REP and will work closely with the Integration and ESOL teams.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commitment of partners and customers:

  • Approach, recruit, screen and enroll participants for project activities.
  • Assess client eligibility for the program and stay up to date on eligibility requirements and procedures.
  • Enter customer information into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and assist with tracking and reporting.
  • Research, identify and learn about services and resources that might be useful to customers.
  • Identify, collaborate and develop relationships with external partner organizations to promote the program, including local government staff, charities and diaspora groups.
  • Manage requests via the email inbox to support interaction with partners and customers.
  • Organize and facilitate information sessions online and in person to encourage participant engagement.

Administration and resource allocation:

  • Lead the organization of in-person events, including researching and liaising with venues and caterers, booking client travel, compiling required client documentation and agenda planning.
  • Support project logistics, for example setting up training rooms or events and preparing participant materials.
  • Collaborate with team members to assist with administrative tasks.
  • Organize customer travel and payment reimbursement processes.
  • Work closely with programme teams and the UK supply chain team to manage logistics for IT equipment delivery and to source and retain IT equipment and customer records.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • Experience working with refugees, migrants or other vulnerable groups.
  • Ability to handle confidential documents and sensitive information;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, partners and customers.
  • Solid diplomatic and networking skills: the ability to effectively manage a variety of internal and external relationships.
  • Competence in using CRMs such as Salesforce and documenting work.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), experience with online platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Based in the South West of England with the opportunity to travel regularly throughout the region for up to 50% of the time.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, set priorities, manage time effectively and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Additional language skills such as Dari, Pashto or Arabic are desirable but not required.
  • Local knowledge about the South West region and its various local organizations.
