With the new school year just around the corner, we’re excited to introduce some fantastic new features to enhance your teaching and learning experience in Forms. You can now stay up to date with improved data syncing, set rules to capture more accurate responses, pre-fill forms and quizzes, and easily manage response notifications. Let’s take a closer look and check out more details. You can also try it out at: This template.

Let’s take a look at how you can make the most of this new feature by creating a science club registry together. Imagine that you are a high school science teacher and you want to create a science club where students of all grades can explore interesting topics beyond the curriculum and engage in fun, hands-on activities.

Improved Excel data synchronization features

You can create a registration form in Excel for the web, without having to visit Forms. This process automatically creates a new form that you can add questions to in Forms. Any questions you add and responses you receive will sync seamlessly with Excel. (For more information, see: Forms data synchronization for Excel is now fully featured with more features – Microsoft Community Hub)

Pre-fill your answers to forms/quizzes

This science club registration allows you to create unique links for each grade and class using pre-filled answers for fields like grade and class. This makes it easy to track and differentiate student distribution across different groups in your club. (See more details at Prefill responses in Microsoft Forms – Microsoft Community Hub)

Validation for open-ended text questions

To ensure that students provide correct contact information and receive timely updates, you can restrict open text questions to only accept email formats. (Other types of restrictions are also supported in Forms. Learn more here.) Validate Open Text Responses in Microsoft Forms – Microsoft Community Hub)

Manage new response notification recipients

You can set up several key individuals, such as the club coordinator and assistants, to be notified when new registrations come in. This allows them to quickly review and confirm new members, update member lists, and prepare welcome materials.
