Copy and paste in Excel for the web

Hello, Microsoft 365 Insiders! I’m Cherishma, a Product Manager on the Excel team. I’m excited to share with you improvements that will help you save time while copying and pasting in Excel for the web.

Improved copy and paste in Excel for the web

Based on feedback we’ve received from many of you, we’ve made the following improvements to the copy and paste experience:

• Drag and drop enhancements Provides a more streamlined and intuitive way to manipulate data.
• Autofill You can drag data to fill series, copy cells, and split data.
• Improved paste options You can right-click or access the AutoRecover Paste Options to choose the paste option that suits your needs.

How it works

1. To try out the drag-and-drop feature, click on a row or column, and when the cursor displays a hand icon, drag it and drop it to a different row or column.

2. Explore the Autofill feature, add data to cells, select the cells, and drag using the plus sign at the bottom right of the selected cells.

3. Check out the improvements to Paste Options, copy some data, then browse the available Paste Options on the Ribbon, or right-click where you want to paste the copied information and select the desired Paste Options.
