Hello Microsoft 365 Insiders! My name is Jason Kempner and I’m a Product Marketing Manager on the Microsoft 365 Consumer Suite Marketing team.

At Microsoft, we celebrate our friends’ birthdays, our parents’ birthdays, our pets’ birthdays, our children’s birthdays, and of course, our products’ birthdays. Since the launch of Microsoft Office in 1988, the family of products that made Word, Excel, and PowerPoint household names has evolved from optimizing productivity at work and school to providing essential apps for everyday life. Today, we celebrate that evolution as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Microsoft 365.

Happy Birthday, Microsoft 365!

In 2013, Microsoft 365 expanded Microsoft Office into a cloud subscription. Finally, you could start a project on one device and easily finish it on another. You could benefit from Microsoft’s latest and greatest features as soon as all the apps were released. Microsoft 365 allowed a whopping 1TB (1000GB) of cloud storage and expanded the original suite of Microsoft Office apps to support every aspect of our lives.

• Microsoft Editor has helped all of us become better writers and communicators both in and out of the classroom.
• Microsoft Teams has helped us stay connected with our loved ones no matter where we are.
• Microsoft To Do has helped replace the yellow pad grocery lists we use to support our families and households.
• Microsoft Family Safety helps keep your kids safe on Xbox, Windows, or the web.
• Most recently, Clipchamp, Designer, and Microsoft Create have helped fuel creativity with video editing, AI-powered design, and template creation across the Microsoft 365 suite.

Just like the warm and fuzzy feeling you get when a loved one blows out a candle, our hearts are full of love for Microsoft 365. We celebrate our 10th anniversary like a 10-year-old child. We’re all grown up and have no more fingers to lean on. We’re incredibly proud of where Microsoft 365 began, excited about all that’s changed, and excited about what’s next. Ten years later, Microsoft 365 continues to grow with you every day.
