people-centric search

Hello, Microsoft 365 Insiders! We’re Sahil Dadwal, a product manager on the Microsoft Search and Assistance team, and Mansi Mittal, a product manager on the Microsoft 365 Mobile team. We’re excited to share that you can now perform people-centric search in Microsoft 365 Mobile for Android and see all the relevant information about a person in a single tab.

People-centric search in Microsoft 365 Mobile for Android

Currently, when you search for information about someone in Microsoft 365 Mobile for Android, the results only include files (such as documents, worksheets, presentations, etc.). To see other search results, such as media, notes, or other related information, you must switch tabs to find that content type.

People-centric search lets you zoom in on a person to see, explore, and search content related to that person. This lets you find content through people, and understand people through content. People-centric search also gives users the ability to easily contact people by searching their contact cards (people answers and people results in the People tab) and access recent files and colleagues to get context.

If you have a meeting coming up with someone you’ve never met, use people-centric search to learn more about them. If you can’t remember someone’s name, just start typing what you remember and people-centric search can help. Or, if you want to understand what someone’s position is in your organization or quickly find a shared email, now you know where to look.

How it works

1. faucet find It’s located in the top right corner of the Microsoft 365 Mobile home screen.

2. at find Enter the name of the person you want to know more about in the box.

3. Select a person from a list of suggestions or keep typing until the correct name appears.

4. You land on every Clicking on a tab will show you relevant content related to that person.

5. To learn more about a person, click on their name to access information such as contact information, organizations, and frequent collaborators.

effectiveness

This feature will be rolling out to Insiders using build 16.0.16216.00000 or later.

Features are released over time to ensure they work smoothly. They are released slowly to a larger number of Insiders, highlighting features you may not have. Sometimes we remove elements based on your feedback to make them even better. In rare cases, we have the option to remove features completely, even if you, as an Insider, had the opportunity to try them out.
