Hi Insiders! I’m Jess Kwok, a Product Manager on the PowerPoint team. I’m excited to share that your fonts are now supported in PowerPoint for the web.

Font of the organization

We know that custom fonts are important for maintaining your organization’s brand identity. That’s why it’s important to use and render fonts seamlessly when collaborating and creating content in PowerPoint. Now, with a few simple steps, administrators can upload fonts to SharePoint so they can be used by the entire organization in PowerPoint production.

How it works

  1. Create a site Use an existing site in SharePoint or one that is already in use as an asset library.

memo: Because the fonts are hosted, you cannot customize your organization’s font asset library permissions. Public CDN. Once uploaded, the font asset library will be available to the entire tenant. Setting permissions at a subgroup level for the font asset library is not currently supported.

  2. Go to the site homepage and select Create New > Document Library.

  4. Download the latest version SharePoint Online Management Shell.

memo: Make sure you are using SharePoint Online Management Shell version 16.0.22413.12000 or later.

  5. If you haven’t already done so, connect to the SharePoint Management Shell using the tenant administrator user name and password.
    Connect-SPOService –Url admin URL> -Credential

memo: Make sure you are using the site’s admin URL (e.g. https://contoso-manager.sharepoint.com)

  6. Use the SharePoint Online Management Shell to run the following command to designate the library as a custom font asset library.
Add-SPOOrgAssetsLibrary -LibraryUrl -OrgAssetType OfficeFontLibrary -CdnType Public

memo: You must specify a CDN type. Public At this stage.

  7. To upload a custom font to the document library location you just created, run the following command:
    Set-SPOCustomFontCatalog -FontFolder -LibraryUrl
  8. Read the warning that appears and confirm that you want to upload your custom font.

After the update has been available to your SharePoint servers for 24 hours, users in your organization should be able to see your organization’s fonts when they use: font This is a box in PowerPoint for the web.

Requirements

  • E3 or E5 license.
  • Only TTF and OTF font file types are supported.

Tips and Tricks

  • When you update your organization’s font asset library, it may take up to 24 hours for it to become widely available.
  • You must use only SharePoint Online Management Shell commands to make changes. Changes made using Document Library SharePoint Web will not be reflected in the font library.
  • Uploaded fonts for your organization can only be used and viewed within your organization. To share them externally, you will need: Embed fonts in your PowerPoint presentation.

Licensing Considerations

The following information is provided during the upload process to help customers using this feature understand the intellectual property risks involved:

warning: When you use this feature and publish a font file, a font catalog file is created. The newly created font catalog file is stored publicly in the cloud along with the fonts and does not follow site classification guidelines if the organization assets library is hosted on a restricted SharePoint site. The font catalog file contains the font name and other font-related metadata. Please note that the file is accessible to anyone who can extract the URL pointing to the file, including people outside your organization.

You can delete this newly created file. If you do, the feature will not work as expected.

Do not use this feature if your font contains proprietary information, has licensing restrictions such as cloud hosting restrictions, or if your organization is uncomfortable making the font publicly available.

effectiveness

This feature is currently available only in PowerPoint for the web. Support for Windows, Mac, and mobile is coming soon! In the meantime, stay tuned. Download and install custom fonts to use with Office.
